The new safety temperature limiters/monitors (safetyM STB/STW Ex) based on ATEX directive 94/9/EC from JUMO represent the latest state of the art in safety engineering and complete the JUMO product portfolio in this area. The compact and freely-configurable safetyM STB/STW Ex with ATEX approval can now also be used for the reliable and early detection of potential dangers in the Ex zone that could lead to personal injuries, damage to the environment, or destruction of production systems and industrial goods.

EX II (1) (1) (2) D (b2) [Ex ia Da] [p Db] IIIC
The primary tasks of safety temperature limiters are to monitor thermal
processes and to bring systems to a safe operating state in the event of
a malfunction.
Other than previous approvals according to DIN EN 14597, SIL 3, PL e
(Performance Level), and GL JUMO devices now have ATEX approval as well
and can therefore also be used in Ex zones.
The inputs are intrinsically safe [Ex ia] so that the corresponding
probes can be directly connected. Therefore the use of a barrier is no
longer necessary. The instrument is also certified according to DIN EN
50495 SIL 2 and DIN EN 13463-6 IPL 2 as an ignition source monitor
according to the ATEX directive.
The new JUMO safety temperature limiter/monitor can be used to monitor
critical processes in potentially explosive gas and dust atmospheres.
It also meets the highly demanding requirements of DIN EN 61508 or DIN
EN ISO 13849 due to a device concept that ensures reliable detection of
errors thanks to its 1oo2D structure. As a result, it can also be used
for applications based on the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
The bright, clearly structured display with clear text display and
background lighting ensures − in connection with the keyboard − a fast
and uncomplicated configuration directly on the device. The menu
structure is clearly arranged so that users can handle the safetyM
STB/STW Ex safely and with ease. Thereby the startup time can be
reduced. All safety-relevant process values are displayed, showing the
most important functions with simple pictograms.
A mini-USB connector is available at the front for the configuration
with a PC or laptop. LEDs indicate whether the system is operating
without errors or whether a pre-alarm or limit value alarm has been
triggered.
The measurement input has a wide range of linearizations. It is freely
configurable for RTD temperature probes, thermocouples, as well as
current, voltage, and differential measurements. Two relay outputs
(pre-alarm and limit value alarm) switch the process to a safe state in
case of an error.
The system is re-enabled by an internal or external reset button as part of the limiter function.
Process values can be transferred to a recorder, controller, or higher-level control system using the standard analog output.
Additional features such as password-protected access and adjustable
level inhibit increase operational security and ensure greater safety
for your process.
Power supplies are available from AC 110 to 240 V (-15/+10 %), 48 to 63 Hz, or AC/DC 20 to 30 V, 48 to 63 Hz.
